Equipment

  • Small saucepan or pot
  • Tea strainer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon for stirring

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons loose black tea or 2 black tea bags
  • 1 cup evaporated milk 240 ml or whole milk for a lighter taste
  • 3 green cardamom pods lightly crushed
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 pinch ground ginger or 2–3 thin slices of fresh ginger
  • Sugar to taste
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

Infuse The Spices And Tea

  • Pour 2 cups of water into a small saucepan and add the crushed cardamom, cinnamon stick, cloves, ginger, and black tea. Place over medium heat and bring it just to a gentle boil. Let it simmer for 2–4 minutes so the spices release their full aroma.

Add Milk And Sweetness

  • Turn the heat down a little and stir in evaporated milk (or whole milk) along with sugar to your liking. Sprinkle in a pinch of ground nutmeg and let it simmer for another 1–2 minutes, making sure it doesn’t boil over.

Strain And Serve

  • Take the pan off the heat and strain the tea into cups using a fine mesh strainer if you used loose tea or whole spices. Serve it hot and savor the warm, spiced flavours of Adeni Tea.
