Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer or whisk
  • Measuring cups & spoons
  • Spatula
  • Cake pan (8-inch recommended)
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 190 g all purpose flour
  • 5 g baking powder
  • 2.5 g baking soda
  • 200 g granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 120 ml milk
  • 5 ml vanilla extract
  • A small pinch of kosher salt
  • 115 g unsalted butter softened

Instructions

Step 1: Make The Batter

  • Start by heating your oven to 180°C (350°F). In one bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt by sifting them together. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until the texture turns soft and creamy. Add the eggs one by one, mixing each properly before adding the next. Then stir in the vanilla.

Step 2: Mix Everything Together

  • Slowly add the dry mixture into the wet mixture, a little at a time, and pour in some milk in between. Keep mixing gently until the batter looks smooth and even. Don’t overdo the mixing.

Step 3: Bake

  • Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and place it in the oven. Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes. To check if it’s done, insert a toothpick in the middle if it comes out clean, it’s ready. Let the cake cool down before cutting and serving.
