Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Grater (for ginger)
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Tea cup

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 –2 teaspoons of honey adjust to taste
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 –3 whole cloves
  • 1 tea bag black tea or green tea
  • 1 small clove of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

Instructions

Start The Tea Base:

  • In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil. Once it’s simmering, toss in some freshly grated ginger, turmeric, a cinnamon stick, and a few cloves. Let everything bubble away for about 5 minutes, giving the spices time to release their flavors.

Optional Garlic Boost:

  • If you want to give the tea an extra kick, crush a small garlic clove and add it to the pot. Garlic can do wonders for your immune system, so it’s a nice addition if you’re after that extra health benefit.

Let The Tea Infuse:

  • After 5 minutes, drop in your tea bag (if you’re using one). Keep simmering for another 2–3 minutes so the tea gets a nice infusion. If you’re skipping the tea bag, no need to do anything here.

Finish And Serve:

  • Take the pot off the heat, and strain the tea into a cup (if you’ve used a tea bag or the whole spices). Add a splash of fresh lemon juice and sweeten it with honey to your liking. Sip it hot and enjoy the calming, comforting warmth of your Dawa Tea!
