Jerk BBQ Sauce Recipe is a bold fusion condiment combining Jamaican jerk spices like Scotch bonnet, allspice, and thyme with sweet, smoky, tangy barbecue flavors, used for marinating, glazing, or dipping meats. I made this Jerk BBQ Sauce Recipe because I enjoy bold taste and wanted something different from regular barbecue sauce.
1–2 Scotch bonnet peppersfinely chopped (adjust to taste)
1tspground allspice
1tspsmoked paprika
1tspdried thyme
1tspblack pepper
½tspkosher salt
½tspground cinnamon
½tspground nutmeg
1tbspWorcestershire sauce
1tbsphoney
½cuppineapple juice
Instructions
Start With The Base
Warm a bit of olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Toss in the chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and Scotch bonnet peppers. Let everything cook for a few minutes, stirring now and then, until it softens and smells really good.
Add The Rest
Pour in the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, lime juice, pineapple juice, Worcestershire sauce, and honey. Sprinkle in all the spices everything from allspice to nutmeg, plus salt and pepper. Give it a good stir and let it come up to a gentle simmer.
Let It Cook Down
Keep it simmering for about 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens nicely. If you prefer it smoother, blend it to your liking. Let it cool before using or storing.
