Slaps BBQ Sauce Recipe

Eliana Emerson
The Slaps BBQ Sauce Recipe stands out for its rich, creamy texture and bold balance of smoky, tangy, sweet, and spicy flavors. Unlike traditional tomato based barbecue sauces, this version uses mayonnaise as its base, giving it a smooth, velvety consistency that coats meats exceptionally well.

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk or hand mixer
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Airtight storage jar or bottle

Ingredients

  • cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup tomato ketchup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard
  • 3 cups creamy mayonnaise
  • 4 teaspoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

Step 1: Mix The Base

  • Grab a large bowl and whisk together the mayonnaise, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and horseradish until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no lumps.

Step 2: Build The Flavor

  • Add in the brown sugar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, cayenne, honey, and a splash of liquid smoke. Keep whisking until everything is well combined and the texture looks even.

Step 3: Taste And Finish

  • Give it a taste and tweak anything you like maybe a bit more sweetness, spice, or tang. If you want a richer flavor, warm it gently in a saucepan over low heat for a few minutes, but don’t let it boil. Let it cool down before storing.
